Scientific name: Lynx rufus Common name: Bobcat
The Bobcat (Lynx rufus) is rarely seen on the farm, although probably a constant inhabitant. It is mostly a nocturnal and solitary hunter; its prey includes rabbits, squirrels, rodents, birds, and reptiles. It will even hunt deer.
The Bobcat keeps several dens along the routes in its territory. Used for sleeping during the day, these dens could theoretically include brushpiles that we have created.
