| Scientific name: Mimus polyglottos Common name: Northern Mockingbird The Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) is one of my favorite birds: absolutely fearless. I have seen them dive-bombing dogs, cats, and mailmen. They will buzz around buzzards and hawks like fighter jets attacking bombers.
