This female Ladder-backed Woodpecker was seen in Cypress Creek Park just a few minutes after I had taken a couple of photographs of a male (here and here). She lacks the red crown found on the male. Notice how mangled the bark is in front of the woodpecker. I wonder what insects she's finding there. Two other photographs of the same female are here and here.
