Stone Library, Adams National Historical Park
Located in Quincy, Massachusetts, the Adams National Historical Park is the birthplace of John Adams (second President of the United States) and John Quincy Adams (sixth President of the United States). In addition, four generations of Adamses lived there, including the great historian Henry Adams. And so, many thousands of volumes of books and manuscripts have made the Stone Library the great collection that it is.
I have never been to the Adams National Historical Park but it is definitely on my list of places that I want to visit. This photograph comes from a book entitled A Treasury of American Heritage, which I've owned since the late 1970's, I think. The picture of the library has always entranced me, as it is quite close to how I would like my own library to look some day: two differents levels of shelves and plenty of space. Yes, it is every bibliophile's dream!
